 <title>2010 Labor Scholars Retreat a Success!</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;On Saturday, March 6, 2010, labor scholars from around the country and faculty from the Los Angeles Community College district converged at a retreat held at Los Angeles Valley College to collaborate on ideas for advancing labor studies in the community colleges. &amp;nbsp;The program included special lectures by high profiles guests and a breakout session facilitated by labor and community organizers.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Speakers included Bill Fletcher, Jr., Mike Davis, Dolores Huerta, Kent Wong and Nelson Lichtenstein. &amp;nbsp;Introductions were given by Joanne Waddell, AFT Chapter President from Los Angeles Valley College, AFT 1521 President, Carl Friedlander and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College Labor Center Director, John McDowell.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Green Labor Journal </title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The National Labor College (NLC), in cooperation with the AFL-CIO&amp;rsquo;s Center for Green Jobs, launched the Green Labor Journal. &amp;nbsp;One&amp;nbsp;of the goals of Green Labor Journal is to showcase union green initiatives in an accessible format, and to provide up-to-date information from a labor perspective on new developments in green policy, technology and work processes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Each month, the Journal will cover the following topics: Feature Article on green jobs and the new green economy; Cleantech Tracker; Affiliate Actions; NLC Green Education and Training; AFL-CIO Center for Green Jobs; Green For All (starting with the December issue) and a &amp;ldquo;Did You Know?&amp;rdquo; section on important events and news items.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Journal is edited by Jerry Brown, Ph.D., Founding Professor of Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University in Miami.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>SAVE THE DATE!!! Labor Scholars Retreat 2010</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;The Dolores Huerta Labor Institute is holding its second Labor Scholars Retreat on Saturday March 6, 2010. &amp;nbsp;Special guests include Dolores Huerta, Bill Fletcher, Jr., Nelson Licthenstein and others. &amp;nbsp;Invited faculty will participate in special workshops and breakout sessions to get collaborate and learn new strategies for teaching labor studies.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This year&#039;s Retreat will be held at LA Valley College in the Fireside Room in Campus Center from 9am to 5pm. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
