On Saturday, March 6, 2010, labor scholars from around the country and faculty from the Los Angeles Community College district converged at a retreat held at Los Angeles Valley College to collaborate on ideas for advancing labor studies in the community colleges.  The program included special lectures by high profiles guests and a breakout session facilitated by labor and community organizers.

Speakers included Bill Fletcher, Jr., Mike Davis, Dolores Huerta, Kent Wong and Nelson Lichtenstein.  Introductions were given by Joanne Waddell, AFT Chapter President from Los Angeles Valley College, AFT 1521 President, Carl Friedlander and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College Labor Center Director, John McDowell.

Participants of the Retreat were given exclusive access to a wiki webpage designed just for the Retreat.  The wiki webpage allows invited collaborators to add content, share ideas, upload files and brainstorm on various topics and issues of interest to each collaborator.  The Retreat wiki webpage is accessible by special invitation only. If you wish to be invited to access the site please contact Kenadi Le at kle@dhli.org.
